I hope you will have yourself a very merry Happy Children's Day :) Children's Day is recognized on various days in many places around the world, to honor children globally. It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925 and then established universally in 1954 to protect an "appropriate" day.
International Day for Protection of Children, observed in many countries as Children's Day on June 1 since 1950, was established by the Women's International Democratic Federation on its congress in Moscow (22 November 1949). Major global variants include a Universal Children's Day on November 20, by United Nations recommendation
And guess what? Today is 1st of June so in multiple countries The Children's Day is celebrated. Even Google has a new doodle - you can see it above - to match the occasion :) I think it is quite nice how Google started the doodles a few years back, in order to celebrate specific days. Some of them are interactive and consist in games or animations.
In Poland, Children's Day (Dzień Dziecka) is celebrated on June 1. The International Children's Day was introduced in Poland in 1952. It coincides with the beginning of summer and it is usually treated as a holiday, as it takes place near the end of the school year. Schools usually organize special activities for the day of the celebration, and the first week of June is a time of festivities organized in parks and entertainment centers for children. Parents buy small gifts for their children.
In Romania, Children's Day (Romanian: “Ziua Copilului”) is celebrated on June 1 as well :) Various events are also organized. On June 1, 2012, International Children's Day was celebrated by the Romanian Government at the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Protection. Almost 100 children in attendance received a Minister of Children diploma celebrating with parents and grandparents.
The pictures you can see here are from when I was small... maybe I was in kindergarden or maybe 1st grade... something like that :) and there was a dancing competition for children. Both me and my sister who appears in these pictures, wear dresses made by my awesome granny. She truly has magical hands. I remember how fast she did them and how beautiful they were until this very day. My sisters dress was some kind of pale pink-orange color and mine was dark velvet purple with lace.
Can you guess in the pictures which one is me and which is my sister? :) 10 points for that :p and have a very Happy Bday and don't forget that you will always be child at heart :) and I for one would not ask for anything more.
