Best Hot Chocolate In Krakow

Dear friends,

What could put a smile on our faces when autumn comes and the weather gets chilly? For me, invariably the answer is split 50-50 between hot chocolate and mulled wine... alright maybe a bit more leaning to the chocolate :) The Mayans knew what they were doing when they became the first chocoholics - they called chocolate the "food of gods", carved the shape of the pods into their stone templates, painted people drinking cacao into their artwork, hired artists to decorate elaborate drinking vessels, placed those vessels in tombs and even used the beans in human sacrifice. They also grew cacao trees, planting them in their household gardens. Cacao beans were so valuable to early Mesoamericans that they were used as currency.
Along the course of time, there were always lovers of chocolate. Did you know, for example, that even Benjamin Franklin sold chocolate in his print shop in Philadelphia? Also, a large study out of Harvard, published in 2010, found that women who ate one or two ounces of chocolate a week had a 32 percent lower risk of heart failure than women who ate no chocolate - I think that should make everyone reconsider it and treat chocolate with more respect. I believe it should be agreed that it can be a remedy against depression. How many times, when girls/ladies are upset/troubled they eat chocolate? And in how many cases after that they feel better? :)
Chocolate should be consumated with as much cocoa as possible - around 70% cocoa is reasonable. Such type of chocolate, eaten daily and not in huge amounts, allows blood to flow more freely in the veins and helps widen and relax the blood vessels. I somewhere once read an article stating that we should eat maximum 4 bars of chocolate per week - most obviously they have never met my husband before ;)))
I have told you about Nowa Prowincja before and about their best hot chocolate in town. I have also told you about their awesome hummus that just melts in your mouth. But I had to share with you this place again :) You must believe me when I say this cafe feels like home. Nowa Prowincja is located in the old town - Main Market Square, on Bracka. It is hard to miss, especially in the summertime when you also have the places outside to sit and have breakfast while you are watching the busy crowd. You know you are home when the WIFI connects automatically - that's Nowa Prowincja for me :) and each time any of my friends drop by, I take them there :)

Hot Chocolate - 8 zloty the small cup with whipped cream on top (if you do not like whipped cream you can always try the version with sour cherry)

The setting has 2 large areas on ground level + 2 other areas above. It is warm, cozy and perfect for friendly reunions. The bathroom is downstairs, next to the bar, and has 2 rooms - unisex bathroom that always has toiletpaper but not always paper towels. Fear not though, as the driers work well ;)

** This post was made out of love for glorious hot choco. I was not repayed in any way and all the opinions are my very own, straight from the heart! **

Yours truly,
The Hot Choco Fan - The LadyBug
