Benefits for people living in Krakow: Karta Krakowska

Dearest sweethearts,

I haven't been very active on the writing site, on the blog, but I've tried to keep you up to date with what's happening in Poland over the Facebook Page. So... if you haven't followed me there yet, now is a good moment to do it ;) motherhood does take away most of the time of the day and then there is work... So... life takes its course. Today I have prepared for you a bit more information on the "Benefits for people living in Krakow" - people that work in corporations, are registered here (not necessarily on a permanent basis), and that submit their PIT (fiscal info) in the Krakow office's. Today I will tell you more about Karta Krakowska - stay sharp! You might want to order one for yourself! ;)
But what is this Karta Krakowska? Well... to make it short, it is a privilege for people that are registered with permanent residence in Krakow and those who pay taxes in the city, thus working on its development ;) it's kinda done on a "qui pro quo" basis, as Hannibal would say. The issuance of the card is free and you can even order it without leaving your home!

In order to receive your Karta Krakowska (aka Krakow Card), you must create an application in an electronic form (at or in paper form and submit it to one of the dedicated points. Applications can be submitted from 1st of July 2018. Persons that are not registered for permanent residence in Krakow, when submitting the application, must show one of the following documents:
  • The first page of PIT with the presentation of the tax office (stamp of influence) or confirmation of its submission
  • The first page of PIT along with the official PIT Receipt Certification (UPO), in case of filling tax returns in electronic form
  • Certificate from Tax Office (Urzad Skarbowego)
In the first place, the City of Krakow will introduce a 20% discount for the purchase of periodic public transport tickets in the 1st ticket zone, as well as entry tickets to municipal galleries and museums. Discounts will apply from August 1st 2018.

The plastic card can be picked up at the point where the application was submitted in paper form and at the Ticket Sales Points in the case of submitting the application in electronic form. The card can be picked up within 30 days from the date of notification about the possibility of its receipt. Cards not collected on the date referred to above can be collected at the Point of Sale at ul.  Podwale 3/5.

The card will be valid for one year from it's date of issue, no earlier than 1st August 2018. For sure I'm going to apply next Monday so I can get the card by 1st of August. Being a local tax payer for 7 years now, I believe this is a very nice step forward in paying back the citizens. What do you think? :)

Yours sincerely,
